The Season

Sunday 19th Sept v PCS Roborough home

The final game  of 2021 season and a honourably draw.

Chasing 188 to win we finished on 168 for 5 with fifties for both Dan and Andrew, Dave also picked up a couple of wickets.

Sunday 12th September v Stoke Fleming away

A draw, chasing 209 we were all out for 150ish
Micky top scored with 46

Next weeks fixture is now home to PCS Roborough

Sunday 5th Sept v Ipplepen – home

Another draw, Dan top scored with 48 in our 160 for 6.
The opposition was 140 for 8 at the close

Sunday 29 Aug v Exeter Erratics

Unable to bowl them all out the game ended as a draw.
MTE 175 Andrew 70, Dave  38
EE 128 for 9 with wickets for Dan, Tom , Ben and Rashid

Sunday 22nd Aug v Cheesewring away

A losing draw we could not overhaul the target set of 167
Apparently a loss as we were playing an overs game

Friday 20th August home to Southwell Ramblers

Game was lost by approx 100 runs

Sunday 15th August home to Spitchwick

A draw; Micky 40no  and Dave 12no hanging on to frustrate the visitors finishing on 96 for 7. Andrew also chipped in with 22 at the start of the innings.
Spitchwick set 185 for 8 with wickets going to Micky 1 for 31, Tom 2 for 9, Dave 1 for 31, George 1 for 51 and Ben 3 for 13.  Ben got  his revenge, having been bowled 3 ball for a duck he bowled the wicket taker for a 2 ball duck.

Sunday 8th August home to Old Suttioians

Another game cancelled due to the opposition being unable to get a team

Sunday 1st August away to Holbeton

A victory at last, Andy’s 46 helped us to 151 for 6 and Tom with 4 for 17 and 2 wickets each for George and Luke saw the opposition bowled out for 123

Sunday 18th  and 25th July

A draw against Stoke Fleming.
Chasing 216 to win we got 175 for 1 in reply, an opening partnership of over 150 with Andy top scoring with 88. Dave  and Chris L also batted.
Andy also took three wickets and a stumping during his spell as wicket keeper.

No fixture could be found for the 18th at short notice

Sunday 4th and 11th July

What a summer! games against Yelverton and Cheesewring cancelled to  bad weather, that’s three Sundays in a row the weather has won.

Keep watching there may to an extra game next week, if the weather allows.

A result that could have gone many ways in the last few overs saw us getting a draw with 1 wicket left and appox 10 runs short.

2018 Averages Available

Top four batsmen have an average greater than 25, Andy over 50, Luke the only batsmen to finish with a strike rate greater than 100. Ben hit the most sixes and Andy batted for 979 minutes. Matt and Andy (2) hit centuries.

Top two bowlers had an average better than 15, Dave took the most wickets with 25, including the only 5 for of the season.

Two new club records, Andy 155 runs and Andy and Chris best 2nd wkt partnership of 173. Lots of personal bests.

Ben the only player to reach double figures with the catches

Memory Lane: 6th May 2007

On the 6th May 2007 Mount Edgcumbe played against Cheesewring CC at Upton Cross.

Batting first we set a then club record score of 271-1.  John Fearon carried his bat to score 114*, his maiden century.  He opened with Steve Boyd (62) in a first wicket partnership of 105.  Martin Moore joined John to score 59* and help post a record second wicket partnership of 166*, which was also the all-time highest score for any wicket.

This may have been the only instance ever of an innings featuring two century partnerships or  an innings  where all three batsmen scored half centuries.
